Good Evening! Today I have a tutorial on how to get this refined purple smoky eye perfect for hooded eyes. I wanted this look to have an elegant and mature look with color. The placement of the shadows give the illusion of a more open eye and not overdone and dramatic.

I used this palette which came in a Tarte gift set, at the end of the post I’ll link some alternative products in a similar color range.
I used mostly these four shadows and one champagne shade from the top of the palette. They appear more reddish in the picture because of the lighting but they are very cool shades, the deepest ” Dinner Date” is a very dark blue based purple. They are true to color below in the application. All four are matte shades aside from the champagne later on the inner part.
Starting with a primed eye and brows did like always I applied my regular setting powder as a base sense the lightest shade in the quad was too lavender looking to me.
I took “Glass of Rose” into the crease as a transition shade, softly blending it out but not applying too much or blowing it out too far. I just wanted the hint of shadow to emphasize the natural contour of my lid. This look is more about playing up the natural shape of your eye rather than creating a new one.
With a pencil brush, I placed “Wildflowers” on the outer portion of the lid.
Then blended inward and along the outer part of the lower lash line. I kept the color close to the crease and didn’t blend it far out.
To add more depth to the outer portion I packed on Dinner Date with the same pencil brush.
I softly blended Dinner Date inward and along the bottom lash line as well.
With Midnight Plum Liner from Tarte, I lined my upper and lower lash lines. I made the line thicker toward the outside and had it taper to nothing on the inside.
You could do this with black, gray or any deep purple you have. I think this is a unique shade of liner, it’s such a smoky grayish deep shade. I haven’t seen any others like it.
I blended the liner a bit so it wasn’t harsh with the pencil brush and added Champagne Toast to the inner corner.
I applied this new mascara by L’oreal called Voluminous Superstar. (review coming soon)
And the finished eye look!
For my face, I used my regular foundation and contouring.

Then highlighted using Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls Powder in Beige Pearl

And Berry Amore for my blush.
For lips, I first applied Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Abu Dhabi then layered Tarte Lipsurgence in Caring over top. I wanted a soft peachy shade and together they worked well. I thought peachy lips and cheeks would compliment the eyes nicely and keep the look wearable.

Finished Look
Now if I can fix this dry skin we’ll be in good shape. LOL
Here’re some alternative eyeshadows you could use to recreate this looks.
