Tarte Rainforest After Dark Colored Clay Eye & Cheek Palette Review

Good evening, I have a review of the Tarte Rainforest After Dark Palette. This palette came out in the Fall 2015 Collection. I thought it was limited edition like the rest of the collection however, it’s still available at Ulta, Sephora and on Tarte’s official site and retails for $38.

Since I bought The Rain Forest After Dark Palette last fall, I’ve used the heck out of it. I love a good all in one palette. Especially in with such lovely shades. It’s a great go-to when you want a warm autumnal look from super smokey and dramatic to casual and wearable for day-to-day.

Seriously, can we talk about the packaging? Love it. I wish I had gotten more of the collection for the packaging alone.

Product Performance: Inspired by the deep orchid hues of the Rainforest at dusk, this palette has everything you need to create sultry, sophisticated looks to take you from day to night. Each pigmented, flattering shade is infused with colored clay, which naturally color-corrects as it helps control oil for longer, truer wear. This next generation ingredient from the mountainous regions of Brazil brightens, evens and soothes skin while the velvety formula glides on and delivers rich color without settling into fine lines or wrinkles. – Tarte

The shades in the palette are gorgeous. I love “Plum Away with Me” and ” Up to No Gold” All the colors play really well with one another, however, it isn’t the most versatile palette because the shades don’t vary much. That being said they are great shades and you can wear them in multiple ways. The shadows also have decent pigmentation, we’re not talking Urban Decay pigmentation here but still very nice and easy to use. I don’t recall having any fall out trouble with it.

The highlighter is super shiny and pigmented. I’d love to have it alone.

Of course the bronzer. “Park Ave Princess” most of us are familiar with and can be purchased separately.

I think the biggest selling point to a lot of us was the blush which is only available in this palette. “Unleashed” is a beautiful matte natural rosy tone. If you are familiar with Tarte, you know their blushes are outstanding.

Shades include:
• bare to explore (pink beige)
• make a mauve (plum mauve)
• plum away with me (dark plum)
• up to no gold (gold)
• tan-gled up in you (tan)
• don’t turn a brown (dark brown)
• unleashed (nude rose blush)
• champagne (highlighter)
• park ave princess™ (bronzer)

colored clay: color-corrects as it specifically addresses individual skin & complexion concerns
• rose clay: soothes skin around the eye area
• vanilla clay: helps control oil to keep pigment in place all day
• gold clay: maintains gentle skin balance and moisture

I’m not sure how much all these fancy clays really do but whatever. It sounds great. LOL.

Here’s a sampling of some of the looks I’ve created with The Tarte Rain Forest After Dark Palette:

Sorry about the filters, those are from last year before I blogged and actually wanted clear pictures. Anywho, I know you can find a million dupes for these shadows out there but for me, it was more of a collector’s item.

See you of the flippity flip! 3 days until wedding day!!!
