Bronze Goddess? Me? I first tried doing a typical bronze look but was so bored with it that I started over. I got inspired by the old Cradle of Filth shirt I was wearing and decided instead to take the look in a different direction. More goddess, less tan. I wanted an Egyptian Goddess vibe. I chose to do a dramatic halo smokey eye using a vibrant bronze as my center shade.
I am going to show you some of my favorite false tanning products since I don’t naturally tan at all being the mix of Scandinavian, English, and Irish I am. I burn and freckle in an instance.
I’ll also be testing out some new products!
If you want to see how I created this look then just keep reading.
First things first, brows, primer, and a base shade.
I’ve had this sample of Urban Decay Primer Potion for a while and I didn’t care of the other formulas so it’s been shoved in the drawer with all my other samples, but I actually really liked this one called Eden. I felt like the others were drying and made my eyelid look way older than it should. I didn’t encounter that with Eden.

For my base shade to get an even color on my lids I used Laetus from The Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette. I went ahead and highlighted my brow bone with Lucius too. For a transition shade, I used Ludwin. I wanted the look to have warmth.
Next, up, I took a mixture of Shax (the matte black) and Solas ( the darkest neutral brown) and used that to create the darkness on the outer and inner corner, leaving the center as bare as I can while still blending the shadows so it’s not too harsh. I went back and forth into the two shades and blended until I liked the way it looked. This look requires a lot of blending and back and forth between shades.
I took Brokedown from the Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette and packed it into the black space in the center and blended it gently into the back.
This is a really cool shadow, it’s a deep antique copper, but wasn’t quite the bronze shade I was looking for. I decided to mix Lucky from the Vice 3 Palette with Brokedown and it made the bronze shade I was looking for.
I went back and forth between the 2 shades from the Kat Von D Shade+Light Eye Contour Palette and the 2 from the Vice 3 blending until I got the gradient between the shades I wanted.
I cleaned up the under eye of fall out and tight lined the upper and lower lash line with the Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil in Black Velvet. Then repeated what I did on the lid on the bottom. With a liquid liner, I created a wing and brought it down to a point at the inner corner for an exotic feel.
I finished off the eye with L’Oreal Voluminous Superstar Mascara and a coat of Immortal Lash 24 Hour Mascara By Kat Von D.

Review here!

Moving on to skin. Eeek! I attempted to make my face somewhat tanner than I am naturally, so I whipped out more samples. I wasn’t concerned with matching my whole body because it’s cold as balls right now I was wearing long sleeves and a fairly high-necked top.
The first thing I did prior to applying makeup, about 30 minutes earlier. I applied the Tarte Brazilliance Face Tanning Wipe.
I’m not one who really cares about self-tanning that much but if I were inclined in the future this product would be my go to. It looks natural, was super easy to apply, and has lasted 2 days now with me washing my face a few times. Much impressed. I’d like the try the one for the body this summer in fact.

Next, I used the Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer. I chose it because it always adds some color to my face. I use it in the summer a lot. It gives a beautiful glow.
Last summer I used Equate Heathy Glow Daily Moisturizer to get some color. It’s a gradual building kind. Not a bad product but washes away quickly.
My Sister-in-law gave me the Sally Hensen Airbrush Legs one evening when we were going out. Apparently, I was too pale. LOL. It washed away that night because it rained. Looks good on but don’t get wet. I prefer the gradual tan lotion.
Foundation. Yikes!!! Don’t worry I blended it down onto my neck later. I thought it would be cool to show the color difference. In person, it didn’t look very tan at all.
Yep, another sample. I mixed 117=y225 and 120=y245 from of the Ultra HD Foundation from Makeup Forever. 117=y225 actually looked really good on me by itself but for the heck of it, I added the darker shade in. I REALLY like this foundation’s formula. I put a bit too much on I think so it got kind of cakey. I’m going to give the lightest shade a go and see how it looks, but I think I found my next high-end foundation purchase. Those shade names, though, Jeez.
See I blended down my neck. LOL. Next up was concealer, I used the Revlon Colorstay because it’s not as light as my others so it blended in well with the foundation and highlighted nicely.

Now for contour. I finally got to go HAM with Subconscious from the Kat Von D Shade+Light Contour Palette. I normally use this shade very sparingly along my jaw line and as an eyeshadow, but not today satan! I I used it for all the contouring! Muhahaha!
I set my undereye and highlighted with a combo of Lucid and Lyric.

Review and demo of the Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette Here

For my bronzer, I used my new holy grail favorite bronzer. The Hourglass Ambient Luminous Bronze in Light. This bronzer is bae for the pale girl.
A great pale gal alternative is Park Ave Princess from Tarte
I also use the Physicians Formula BB Bronze Boost in Light
The Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil is great too for pale skin.
More highlight and blush. I used a peachy coral blush on my cheeks and highlighted with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light.

I finished off with Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Vampira. Who says you can’t have a bold eye and lip. We’re breaking all the “rules” today. Because it’s just makeup and it’s fun.
Okay, here’s the finished look!
Sorry, this post is quite late. I went out Thursday evening after I finished this look and I tell ya, I don’t even have to drink to be hungover. I get contact hangover these days. Curse of getting older. I stayed up past my bedtime was completely useless yesterday, slept forever! Then the damn internet crapped out on me. Anyway, getting back on track today.
