As most of you know, Tarte is one of my ” Ride of Die” brands so when they came out with a contour palette I was all over it. Besides, I need to check out some alternatives to my Kat Von D Shade+Light because I’ve been tearing through it like nobodies business. So without further ado, let’s jump into the review and demo!

The first thing I want to talk about is the packaging, absolutely gorgeous, but as you see it holds fingerprints like crazy. However, it looks so luxe. I love the gold plating all over. The outer top is a gold faux leather with the logo printed on top. It’s weighty and feels like good quality. It has a great mirror on the inside with a the Tarteist logo printed there as well.
The layout is user-friendly and similar to a couple of their eye palettes. Each pan is labeled 1-6 for ease of use too.
Our new tarteist contour palette is a universal, goofproof, face-slenderizing palette that allows anyone to master the art of contouring. Drop 5 lbs in 5 minutes™ and paint by numbers with this all-in-one face slenderizing palette.
Powered by: mineral pigments
mineral pigments: soothe and soften skin
Product performance: With 6 numbered contouring shades and a coordinating visual guide, you can highlight, correct, contour and accentuate your best features like a pro makeup tarteist™. The ultra-soft, satin powders are powered by Amazonian clay, and the matte shades blend seamlessly across all skin types to add rich, gradual dimension while softening any harsh lines. Use it with the coordinating tarteist™ sculpt & slim contour brush to conquer the contour like a pro for a naturally slimmer effect.
The angle of this palette is to be user-friendly, the contour palette for the everyday gal, and it is indeed that. Super easy to use. The pigmentation isn’t as strong as say the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette. Which, when speaking of eye shadows that would be a downside but with a contour I feel like it’s a plus. It keeps you from going overboard accidentally. That being said, it is very build-able.
The palette has a sugar / vanilla scent which is very pleasant.
I find it would suit medium to fair skin best. I can use the deepest shade with no trouble and I’m fair. So I wouldn’t say it was universal and the whole weight loss angle is a bit lame.

Includes 6 versatile, contouring shades:
highlight (matte highlighter)
contour – deep (for medium-to-dark skin tones)
accentuate (rosy blush)
glow (shimmer highlighter)
contour – soft (for light-to-medium skin tones)

The powders are smooth on application and blend like a dream. The blush shade is to die for. The glow shade in the center doesn’t swatch like much but looks great on the face, much like the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, the texture actually reminds me of the Nars Crystal Setting Powder. It’s a good everyday highlight that can be subtle or built up.
The palette also comes with a little guide on how to use the product with detailed instructions.
On to the demo!
Here’s my face after I finished foundation, concealer and setting powder.
First, I went in with the light contour shade in the hallow of my cheeks and around my temple. I used the Real Techniques Contour Brush from the Core Collection.
Next I took the Deep contour shade on a contour brush from Sonia Kashuk and carved out my cheek bones further, under the jaw line and around my nose.
On the under eye area I used the yellow highlight powder to brighten.
I used a small pointed elf Blush Brush to apply it.
On the same elf brush I applied the pinkish highlight to the high points of the cheeks, forehead, top of the nose, point of the chin and along the jaw just below the contour shade.
Then, I applied the shimmer highlight to the highest point of the cheek bones, tip of the nose, and cupids bow.
Lastly, I added the blush.
And the finished look. A Full tutorial on this look is on the way.

So far, I’m quite pleased with the palette. Even though I think the weight loss angle is lame, my face looks pretty thin though right? LOL!
