Queen Bee Smoky Eye

Finally, a new makeup tutorial. I’ve been kind of distracted lately and kind of unmotivated and out of sorts I guess. Anyway, I’m back at it now.

The look is actually a redo and updated version of my first makeup tutorial I did one year ago for Bee Beauty. Yep, Bee Beauty is a year old this month and I just hit 2,055 followers on Bee Beauty and 1,700 on my Instagram which is pretty exciting and a huge thank you to every one of you guys, for all the views, comments and follows. Thank y’all so much!

Anyway, my “Queen Bee Smoky Eye” is pretty much my go to look for a night out and now that I am better at this blogging thing I decided I’d redo it. You can see my original post here: Queen Bee Smoky Eye. If you haven’t noticed I really like bees, black and gold, dramatic eyes and vampy lips. LOL.

Old VS New

If you want to see how I get my go to Queen Bee Smoky Eye look, just keep reading  below.

I’m starting out with a primed eye using Too Faced Shadow Insurance and my brows filled. For my brows today I used Colourpop’s brow pencil and pomade in Dope Taupe. Review here: Colourpop Brow Pencil and Color

Moving on to eyeshadow. I’m starting out using the Kat Von D Beauty Shade+Light Eye Contour Palette.

photo 20160810_194732_zpscus5izfc.jpgOn a big fluffy brush I lay down the shade “Laetus” ad a base shade to cancel out any redness and freckles on my lids so I have a nice smooth canvas to work on.
photo 20160810_195054_zpsdvjbmcds.jpgNext on a fluffy blending brush I took “Ludwin” into the crease area and blended it up and out as a transition shade. This will ensure a smooth blend when we go with the deeper shades. I choose to use a warmer soft camel shade as a transition because I thought it would better with the gold I add later which can wash me out. This shade just gives it an extra something,
photo 20160810_195430_zpsrpgippdu.jpgSticking to the warm browns, on that same brush I took “Succubus” into the crease and blended it up and out as well.
photo 20160810_200046_zpszkre1aau.jpgOn a smaller blending brush I took “Solas” into the outer part of the crease to really create depth and contour the eye. I blended the shade upward in an almost cat eye shape and blended it inward as well keeping to most pigment in the outer corner of the crease. .
photo 20160810_200050_zpss5j0mq8d.jpgLayering these brown shades gives more dimension then just using one shade and gives the black I add later something to transition into.
photo 20160816_132822_zpsyiobx39y.jpg photo 20160816_132845_zpskgkcjzfr.jpgNow for the lid, which is gold. I dug through my collection, swatching every gold I had for the perfect pigmentation and shade. I chose “Half Baked” from Urban Decay’s Naked 2 because it’s a true bright gold, not to orange, or bronze nor is it to cool or burnished. It’s just right.
photo 20160810_200801_zpsshnn6kfw.jpg photo 20160810_200701_zpsblluoazz.jpgOn a flat shader brush I patted “Half Baked” all over the mobile lid below the crease. You can apply this shade on a damp brush for even  more impact. photo 20160810_201416_zpsqb0tt8ph.jpgNext with a pencil brush I took “Shax” from the Shade+Light Eye Contour Palette and slowly started building up the pigment in on the outer portion of the eye. I added the black in little by little with a very light hand until I got the pigmentation and blend I liked. I softly blended the black into the gold and also pulled it outward in a cat eye like shape. I did go back and forth with the gold and black until it the gradient was smooth and there was some back and forth with the deepest brown shade to blend the black in the crease and outer corner.

I also placed “Booty Call” on the inner corner and brow bone.
photo 20160810_205644_zpsxurn90ug.jpg photo 20160810_204509_zpszcddjnaz.jpgNext I added some winged liner with a liquid liner pen because we need all the drama. LOL. Then I cleaned up my edges with a Q-Tip and face lotion and removed any fall out.  photo 20160810_214057_zpszuiibvh7.jpgI went ahead and did the rest of my face makeup which I’ll come back to in a second  before I did my lower lash line.

On the lower lash line I pretty much did the same as I did on the top. First taking “Ludwin” on a pencil brush across the lower lash line and blending it out.

photo 20160810_214250_zpsupry3puu.jpgOn the same pencil brush I blended “Succubus” starting at the outer corner and fading it inward to nothing.
photo 20160810_214430_zpsjfjelnse.jpgThen I added some back eyeshadow just at the lash line with a liner brush and connected it to the wing.
photo 20160810_214836_zpsl3fi8x1l.jpgI put a little bit of the gold shade just at before the tear duct and blended it over into the brown shadow and then added more of “Booty Call” to the inner corner to for some brightness.
photo nyxliner3_zpsgq3yfqok.jpgI tightlined with a flesh-colored pencil to open up my eyes, but you can also use black.  photo 20160810_221659_zpsw8vx3f4d.jpgLastly I finished off the eye with a few coats of mascara and a half set of falsies. And that’s the finished eye.  photo 20151219_042721_zps9q8nekxe.jpg photo 20150928_213412_zpsqauapqef.jpgFor mascara I used a combination of Kat Von D Beauty Immortal Lash and L’oreal Voluminous Superstar. 1. Thank ya ❤ The primer is okay, helps calm inflammation but no help in the pore filling department so u usually pair it with another primer. I think it’s supposed to be like the Guerlain primer
