Alright, part 2 of my Lock-It Revolution review. This post is focused on the new Kat Von D Beauty Lock-It Setting Powder and the Kat Von D Beauty Lock-It Setting Powder Brush. So, if you wanna see how it works out and my thoughts, just keep reading below.
Get ready for the latest breakthrough…Lock-It Setting Powder is not your grandma’s loose powder! Our groundbreaking technology reduces the weight by 30% compared to the leading setting powder, so you get a better finish with NO chalkiness or added texture. That means less weight, NO cake!
This silky, non-drying powder is formulated with Micro-Blurring Technology™ to softly diffuse pores for a velvety-matte, selfie-ready finish. Our universal translucent shade is truly undetectable on all skintones, so everyone can lock down and mattify their makeup! -Kat Von D Beauty.com
Ha, “not your grandma’s loose powder” *glares at Coty Airspun* For real. This is definitely one of the nicest loose powders I have ever used. Mind you, I haven’t tried the Laura Mercier but I have tried a many a drugstore and high-end setting powders over the years.
Why is this one so good? It does exactly what the claim. I’ve had zero cake face, it’s super lightweight and silky. My skin looks smooth and poreless with minimal creasing under the eye.
My skin does lean dry but being it’s been super humid, non stop rain, yet burning hot here in Louisiana. If you don’t natural have oily skin already, the weather here will give it to ya. Despite the humidity, wet and sweat my makeup has stayed matte where I want it and budge proof with this powder. In fact, last Saturday after a long day working a benefit, being in and outside, with extreme heat and a sudden downpour and my makeup being on from 11am, I fell asleep in it ( I was exhausted and just sacked out) and when I woke up the next morning it still looked pretty decent. LOL. Especially the under eye where I baked. (would anyone like a post on baking? let me know in the comments!)
So yeah, 10 out 10 would recommend!
The jar’s sifter holes are arranged in the shape of a star, inspired by Kat’s signature star tattoos
We have to talk packaging when we talk KVD. It’s detailed, metal yet elegant and sleek.
Meet the ultimate loose powder brush for setting and perfecting your entire face! The Lock-It Setting Powder Brush was born after testing dozens of other loose powder brushes, in pursuit of creating the perfect tool to use with our majorly groundbreaking Lock-It Setting Powder. Our distinctive silhouette is big and fluffy with rounded, tapered bristles—an artist’s secret to efficient yet seamless all-over setting! Powder is evenly dispersed all over the face, so you get a soft, diffused veil of powder with one effortless application.
Behold, the softest brush I have ever touched. OMFG! So soft! I just want to rub it on my face all day.
Super-soft synthetic bristles are designed for applying the most weightless, finely-milled powders, such as Lock-It Setting Powder, for a soft-matte finish that evenly blurs imperfections and smooths skin’s texture.
It’s beautifully designed just like all of Kat’s brushes. Weighty, comfortable to use. Excellent quality. All around a win for me.
Here’s a quick demo of how I used theses products:
Baking face. I applied a generous amount of powder under my eyes, my chin, down the bridge of my nose and forehead with a damp beauty blender. I also applied it just underneath my contour to sharpen the line.
The undereye is baking.
With the Lock-It Setting Powder Brush I knocked away the powder.
After the powder is dusted away close up shots. I think it performs pretty great.
And here is the final result:
