Hello Beauties, Friday’s post is a little late because my sister and I had a “Treat yo’self” kinda day and I am just now getting around to typing up my review of the DevaCurl Buildup Buster Micellar Water Cleansing Serum for all types of curly hair.
I received the Buildup Buster from Influenster to review a little over a month ago and I have been really putting it to the test and trying to get it to work for me, but the bottom line is is that it just doesn’t.
The Buildup Buster is meant to remove all the build up in one’s hair and “bring all curl types back to life” In reality, it left my hair feeling so gross, full of unwanted texture. It LEFT a buildup! I tried to show how nasty my roots looked below.
I really tried with this stuff. I used it multiple times, making sure it was thoroughly rinsed but my hair somehow felt dirtier than before I used this.
So I had oily roots, and then my ends were super frizzy and it was completely unmanageable. I had to work HARD to get my hair to look half way decent. Every time I used it, I ended up putting my hair up in because it was just a horrible mess.
I naturally have an oily scalp and this product sounded like it would be a life saver, and it has no harsh ingredients. It’s meant to clarify your hair from what the product description says. It’s enriched with “abyssinian seed oil and jojoba to deliver moisture, shine and head-turning bounce.” Sure. But that sure didn’t make it work any better.
I’m not sure how well this will work for anyone, curly haired or not. 10 out 10 do not recommend.
BUILDUP BUSTER Micellar Water Cleansing Serum retails for $28 That’s really all I can say about this stuff, I was disappointed, to say the least. I really wanted to like it.

Wow. Well at least you didn’t have to pay for it. Their products are expensive. I like the Decadence line of products. But they are uber expensive.

Yeah. I just saw the price last night as I was writing this and nearly died! What a gimmick. I do want that crazy squid hand diffuser they have.

I rarely use drugstore products on my hair after seeing the damage they can do firsthand to your hair and learning about what the best things are for haircare etc. All the products I use right now are purchased directly from the salon I work at and it’s definitely worth the price for them. It’s sad to see this didn’t work out for you but at least you didn’t waste any money buying it!

Yeah, it did so bad for me I still want a refund lol! I’m not usually picky about hair products. I just expect them to work. Especially for a higher-end line. I have read some rave reviews of this though on really curly hair and natural hair. I think it’s more of a hair type issue is why it didn’t work for me. Mine is very fine and wavy. I feel like on course hair it would be more beneficial.

Oh god that’s such a shame – it’s all about finding products that work for your specific hair needs I think

Yep. It’s an on going search.
