Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette Review + Swatches + Looks

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette

Hey guys! A day late on this one. This week got away from me. Anyway, today I have a new review of the Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette. Ya’ll know I was looking forward to this one. I ordered her at 3 am went it released just in case.

As you can see, this is a beautiful palette with unique packaging. It’s completely different than anything else on the market, yet still, fits in with what’s trending.

So let’s talk the good, the bad, and the pigmented!

The Packaging

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette

Obviously, this packaging is amazing.  The Saints & Sinners Palette has the most beautiful packaging I have seen to date. To be honest, I didn’t even care what was on the inside. LOL. I just wanted it.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette

I am blown away by the detail. The lettering and scrollwork are drawn by Kat Von D herself and is inspired by cathedral windows which are typically done in a gothic architecture style. The packaging definitely speaks to my inner architecture nerd. (I almost opted for a career in architecture) My father and brother both work in the fields as draftsmen, contractors and engineers so I grew up around building design and construction, My father specialized in churches while my brother did a lot of gothic architecture restoration so this hits a special place. I know it’s just a makeup palette but when you can tell someone put so much thought into it like Kat, it becomes art itself and can make you feel something just like any other piece of art.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette

The Saints & Sinners is a two-sided palette that opens like french doors. One side is the Saints side and the other is the Sinner side which features bolder shades. Kat’s holiday collection was done to tie into the rerelease of the Saints & Sinners perfume and in honor of the duality in ourselves.

The Saints side features soft romantic shades, where the Sinners side is bold and exciting shades.

The Breakdown

Let’s talk about these eyeshadows now, because they are bad ass!

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette

You have everything in this palette, from mattes, shimmers, metallics, and special effect glimmer shades. The colors are all very nuanced and different than most the palettes on the market. The shades are very dimensional, even the mattes have a unique undertone or something that sets them apart.

The shades were inspired by the colors you see in stained glass windows in churches and the kaleidoscope effect they have when light dances through them. If you have seen a church window in real life you know exactly what that means.

Saints

Here’s a look at the shades, Starting with the Saints sides.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Absolution
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Absolution

Absolution is described as an Ivory with a gold super glimmer. It’s a shimmery ivory with a gold shift as the base but is packed with iridescent gold glitters. This packed over any shade in the palette adds a new dimension and finish to the shade. This one is fall out heavy and performs best over a sticky base like a glitter glue or applied with a wet brush.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Worship
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Worship

Worship is one of my favorites. Described as a pearlescent eggplant. Its super pigmented but the finish is a restrained metallic, a true pearlized finish. It’s a rich deep grape that I didn’t know I was missing in my collection.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Immaculate
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Immaculate

Immaculate is one the best green eyeshadows I have used. Described as a pearlescent olive. The finish is the same as Worship. It’s a rich incredibly pigmented olive green. This is one of the shades, I have been on the hunt for. Even though it’s super pigmented, Immaculate and Worship are easy to wear and don’t come off as “too much” on the eyes.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Chalice
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Chalice

Chalice is another shade I am enjoying, at a glace it seems boring but on the lid, it looks beautiful. Described as a metallic antique bronze. It’s a very neutral bronze, not too warm or cool, or super deep. It’s a shade you would see in real life on an old piece hardware in a church. There are slight silver micro glitters throughout. It’s buttery smooth, pigmented and blends like a dream. Come to think of it, chalice is the perfect name because it’s the color of an antique chalice. Like Immaculate and Worship, this is a very wearable shade.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Sacred Heart
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart is described as pearlescent coral. Another amazing shade, you can rock for day or night. It’s smooth and pigmented. Blends beautifully. The pearl finish is very soft.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Amen
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Amen

Amen is a perfect base shade for me personally and browbone highlight. Described as a matte cream. It’s pigmented and smooth.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Sanctuary
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Sanctuary

Sanctuary is described as pearlescent nude coffee. This, like Chalice, was an unexpected shade that I found myself loving.  It’s a rich almost purple-brown. Again, smooth and pigmented.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Heaven
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Heaven

Heaven is named perfectly, this is a heavenly angelic shade. Described as a metallic silver but it’s more than just that. There is a warmth in it. It’s a unique and very soft silver. Definitely, has an antiqued feel.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Crucifix
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Crucifix

Crucifix is described as a matte deep chocolate. It looks just like a dark chocolate, it has a cool undertone. It’s on par with all of Kat’s matte shades, blendable, pigmented and smooth.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Cathedral
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Cathedral

Cathedral is really cool shade, described as gunmetal with silvery blue glitter. It almost has a deep lavender in there. It’s a smokey gunmetal. I really like it and can’t wait to use it in a look.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Rosary
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Rosary

Rosary is described as a metallic garnet. Is a gorgeous rich cool blue-based red shade. Again, I can’t wait to use it.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Baptism
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Baptism

Baptism is a matte super pale pink. This one makes a beautiful matte brow bone highlight for fair skin. It’s very pigmented and smooth but overly pink. Just a hint of pink.

Sinners

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Rapture
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Rapture

Rapture is described as a rosy pink with pink super glimmer. This shade like Absolution is fallout heavy and performs best over a sticky base, glitter glue or applied with a wet brush. The shade is a more of a warm rosy pink metallic, it’s almost coral based with warm pink glitter with a glitter. This is a more sheer based shade loaded with glitter and shimmer made to transform eyeshadow that it’s laid over.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Sabbath
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Sabbath

Sabbath, named after Black Sabbath is a matte jet black.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Ashes
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Ashes

Ashes is one I am fond of, not something I have seen before. Described of taupe with gold glitter. Its a matte taupe packed with golden iridescent glitter which has a green shift.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Martyr
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Martyr

Martyr is a matte toffee brown. Super vibrant and pigmented. It makes a really cool transition shade. It’s one of the poop Dwight Shrute browns that we all love right now. LOL.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Devil
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Devil

Devil is a matte pumpkin orange. Very vibrant and richly pigmented. It blends beautifully. I am really enjoying this shade.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Revelation
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Revelation

Revelation is a brown with gold glitter. We have all seen this before, the matte brown with gold glitter, however, this one is PACKED with gold glitter.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Vestment
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Vestment

Vestment is a shimmery maroon with a blue-green shift. This is a very common duo chrome combo, the warm reddish brown with a teal shift but this one does have a very strong shift where it’s more teal than brown. I have 3 shades like this but this one has more oomph.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Ministry
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Ministry

Ministry, the one shade I could do without. Why do all her palettes have a cobalt blue? That being said, it’s a nice cobalt blue. Very metallic and pigmented.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Exodus
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Exodus

Exodus, now for something completely different. Described as chartreuse with gold glitter. Yes! I am so excited about using this shade. It’s a beautifully pigmented matte absinthe green with gold glitter.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Exorcism
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Exorcism

Exorcism is described as a matte deep purple. This is a fun eyeshadow to have. I’m looking forward to using her in a look as well.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Relic
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Relic

Relic is described as a fool’s gold. Another fun shade to have. This paired with Exorcism looks like LSU colors. LOL! If I were into football I would do a look… Relic is a very bright warm yellow gold.

Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette - Stigmata
Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette – Stigmata

Stigmata is described as metallic Scarlett. Warmer than Rosary is tone. It’s more of a true metallic red.

On a whole, all the eyeshadows are incredibly pigmented, blendable and buttery smooth. There is nothing bad I can say about the formulas at all. They are on par with any of her other releases. The quality is great across the board.

The Swatches

These switches pretty damn good and perform even better. The special effect shades, Absolution, and Rapture do take some special attention because they are so glittery but if you take time to wet your brush with some setting spray or use a glitter glue, they perform amazingly.
