Get the Look | Shadow Sun – Glittery Gold Fall Makeup Tutorial feat Kat Von D Beauty Saints & Sinners Palette

Happy Saturday! A day late again. LOL. Apparently making a blogging schedule is more of a suggestion rather than deadlines. Anyway, today I have another Fall \ Holiday makeup look. This looks features a golden glittery halo eye that is perfect for those more glam holiday events… or a Tuesday if you are me.

I’m still getting the hang of my new camera and working on my lighting situation so forgive the funky lighting and let’s get started! Well, Imma make me another cup of coffee and then we’ll get started.

Of course, I am STILL using the Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette. I am having a lot of fun with this palette.

The Eyes

As per usual, I have already done my brows and primed my lids with Too Faced Shadow Insurance,  and a little bit of the Kat Von D Lock-It Creme Concealer in Light Neutral to cover up any pigmentation on my lids, cause girl, there is a lot! I got veins, freckles, and redness on my lids like no one’s business.

So I set my lids with Amen first on a big fluffy brush. This part looks so crazy before my foundation and everything else is done.

Next up, it’s time to build up the crease and transition area. For this, I use a super fluffy brush to cover more space and defuse the color. I have a lot of space between my brows and lid, plus they are hooded so a huge fluffy blending brush gets the job done quickly and well blended with minimal effort. I have been using an E.L.F brush for this that I believe is for concealer or setting the undereye. I’m going to link it here: Flawless Concealer Brush 

For the crease and transition, I am using the shade Martyr. This is a well-loved shade. I applied it really blown out and defused, bringing it all the way up to the inner part of the brow and out toward the tail of the brow.  Transition shades are my best friend as they minimized the hooded look of my lids and creates more depth.

This next step was useless but I have included it any because it’s what I did. I took a Maybelline Color Tattoo in Creamy Beige all over the lid in hopes it would help the glitter stick in the lid shade I am using which is a matte brown with gold glitter. The base didn’t help and I ended up with no glitter on the lid hardly. Is it just me or is adding glitter to matte shadow useless? It’s virtually just a matte eyeshadow that gives you glitter fall out. I mean. I have gotten them to work with a damp brush but in the case, I wanted it more blended. Anyway, this step was pointless. It actually just made blending more of a pain.

Now for the lid shade. I wanted to use this glittery matte brown shade in hopes of getting some defused glitters but it ended up just looking like a matte brown on my lid. This shade looks beautiful in the pan and swatched but it loses it’s sparkle on the lid. Par for the course with these types of shadows.

I packed Revelation all over the lid and blended it to the crease and into the transition shade. I also tight lined with a brown eyeliner along my upper lash line.

Okay, now for the fun part! I have fallen in love with these little glitters from Wet N Wild. They are like 93 cents at Wal-Mart and so useful.

They are a glitter suspended in a petroleum jelly type stuff. It’s sticky and doesn’t set down and the glitter impact of these on there own is cool. You don’t get full-on solid glitter but you get some sparkle. Anyway, I love using these as a base and packing a glittery eyeshadow over the top because it gives you crazy impact and glitter because you have the glitter from this plus what you patted over top. It’s fantastic to use with those eyeshadow topper shades like Fenty’s Holiday Palette or Urban Decay’s Moondust Shadows. Basically, I use them as a glitter glue because they give a good sticky base. They come in a lot of shades too. I have the gold and iridescent. I couldn’t find these on the website individually but I found some sets I will link here:

So I patted the gold shade all over the center of the lid, These look really good on their own actually.

But for more impact and because I have been dying to use this shade I took Absolution which is described as an Ivory with a gold super glimmer. It functions as a topper eyeshadow because it’s more glitter then pigmentation. It’s super shimmery and glittery.

I applied Absolution over top the sticky glitter base, Look how shiny!

I went back in with Revelation and blended the edges so everything was nice and seamless. For this step, I used a small pencil brush for precision.

On the lower lash line, I used the same pencil brush and ran Revelation along the outer third of the lash line, then smoked it out with a small fluffy brush and Martyr.

For the inner corner, I repeated the steps I did for the center of the lid.

I finished the eye off with a few coats of mascara. I should have added some false lashes but it completely slipped my mind because that would have made this look fire! I also hit brow bone with my face highlighter.  I used a combination of the highlight shades from the Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Highlight and Contour Palette.

The Lips

For the lips I went with a brown burgundy shade from Nyx, This is Nyx Liquid Suede in Club Hopper. I should have waited for it dry down before taking the picture. LOL.

The Finished Look

Anyway, here is the finished look. 

For foundation, I used E.L.F. Flawless Finish Foundation and concealed with LA Girl Pro Concealer. I set everything with L’Oreal Pro Glow Powder. I contoured with Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Contour and Highlight palette.  I used a blush from Too Faced that was part of a holiday collection a couple of years ago and highlighted with damn near all the shades from the Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Contour and Highlight palette swirled together. I used E.L.F. Highlighting Palette as a finishing powder to give the skin a dewy look.
