Happy 2018, Today I finally have my 2017 most loved and used makeup products, ranging from skincare to hair and nails and all that’s in between.
So I am going to go in an order of how one would use these products. I also opted for a collage method of showing the products as some I no longer have and or would have to dig up pictures. I felt like this was the neatest and most organized way to present the products, I will, of course, link any reviews and other relevant posts as we go.
The Complexion
I didn’t love a whole lot in the complexion department this year. I focused mostly on using up what I have but here are a few winners.

L’oreal Infallible Pro- Glow Foundation in Classic Ivory was my hands down favorite foundation this year. Stunning finish and wear time. I bought this late last year but have completely used it up. You can read my full review here: L’oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation Review + Demo
A pale girl’s best friend is the Nyx Pro Foundation Mixer in White. This stuff has allowed me to tweak my foundation shades so they match me perfectly. Most of the time drugstore foundations run to dark for me aside from the Pro Glow Foundation and Maybelline Fit Me so having a mixer on hand is key. I like to try new foundations from affordable brands but the color selection usually sucks. The Pro Foundation Mixer comes in tones of shades and undertones so you can tweak any product for a multitude of skin tones. It’s fantastic to have them as a makeup artist. They don’t change the formula, coverage or finish of the foundation you mix it with either. A little bit goes a LONG way too.

I also didn’t find too many concealers I loved this year. I tried a few but they were either a bad shade match or just not that good.
This may have been a favorite last year but the Kat Von D Lock-It Creme Concealer in White-Out has been a staple for me to adjust concealers without losing coverage and the shade 5 Light I found is my perfect shade to no tweaking there. I have a full review here: Kat Von D Beauty Lock-It Concealer Creme Review + Demo #LockitRevolution
Next up is the Loreal Infallible Pro Glow Concealer in Classic Ivory. I live for the formula and finish of this concealer but the shade is too dark, so I do have to mix some of the KVD White Out in but the finish is so good that it’s worth the effort for me. You can see my full review here: REVIEW + DEMO | L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Concealer + Powder
Lastly. A little late to the game on these but I have really been enjoying the L.A. Girl HD Pro Concealers. I have the shade Porcelain which is not quite as light as I would love it to be but still really good and the formula is on point. I also picked up the Highlighter shade, thinking it would be a dupe for my KVD White-Out. Nope, but amazing in its own right. While it does lighten up concealer, it also has a pearlescent finish which gives the skin a gorgeous radiant finish. It’s a nice perk.

I experimented with a number of powders last year and here are my faves.
L’Oreal Infallible Pro Glow Powder in Classic Ivory I love as my all over setting powder. It has a fantastic finish and works great. REVIEW + DEMO | L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Concealer + Powder
I picked this one up fairly recently but fell in love, The Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder in Fair Light. I wouldn’t call this a finishing powder because it sets foundation and concealer like a dream and is perfect for baking. I dare say it has replaced my KVD Lock-It Setting Powder.
Speaking of finishing powders, I live for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, a long time love but last year I picked up the shade Ethereal which is a radiant white. It is a pale girl must. It gives the skin life and airbrushes imperfections all while maintaining porcelain perfection.
And lastly, while Maybelline Fit Me may be giving her a run for her money I used the ever living shit out of Kat Von D Lock-It Setting Powder and still love it. Kat Von D Beauty Lock-It Setting Powder Review + Demo #LockItRevolution

A couple of face palettes I reached for a ton this past year was the E.L.F. Cosmetics Beautifully Bare Natural Glow Face Palette and the Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Highlight and Contour Palette. Both excellent palettes that I adore. I have full reviews of both here: e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Natural Glow Full Face Palette Review. and here: Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Highlight & Contour Palette Review

I was a creature of habit when it came to blush and bronzer last year.
I was and am obsessed with the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Paaarty. It’s just a perfect shade, not too cool, not to warm. Just perfect, especially on fair skin. Another blush I used consistently was Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure. It’s got a soft radiant finish and the perfect tones for me.
By far the best pale girl bronzer I have ever used is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light. It has a radiant finish as well but not shimmery. It’s skin like. All the Hourglass Ambient Lighting products are like real life face tune. Despite being radiant they don’t exaggerate texture at all. Worth every penny.

Now for my favorite face product. HIGHLIGHTERS! I have way too many I loved last year.
Starting at the drugstore, I love the Nyx Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powders. The texture and finish is outstanding. So smooth and stunning on the skin. I have a review here: NYX Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder Review
Also from the drugstore is a love it or hate kind of product. I for one loved it. It’s the ELF Baked Highlighter in Blushed Gems. This was one of my favorites last spring. I found it to work great for me.
Of course, you can’t talk about highlighters without Anastasia Beverly Hills. I picked up the Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Glow Kit last winter and I still love it just as much. I make looks around this palette. Review here: Anastasia Beverly Hills Moon Child Glow Kit Review, Swatches, and Looks.
More recently I got the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sugar Glow Kit. So good. That’s all I can say. I have a full review here: Review|Swatches – Anastasia Beverly Hills Sugar Glow Kit

The Eyes

I have finally reached a point where I am happy with my brows and my brow routine. I experiment a lot with different techniques but these are the affordable products that I kept returning to all year long.
A newer find was the BH Cosmetics Studio Pro HD Brow Pencil in Brunette. It’s a really affordable dupe for the ABH Brow Wiz. Unfortunately, it has a more limited color range, I ordered Brunette on a whim because it was on sale and I was placing an order anyway. This turned out to be one of the best shades I have used. It’s cool toned but not too gray and matches seamlessly with my brows. The tip is super small so I can actually draw in hairs and really define my brow.
Next up is the Nyx Eyebrow Powder Pencil in Ash Brown. This pencil has a super soft powdery texture with just the right about of pigmentation. I use this guy to fill in the bulk of my brows. I have large eyebrows but they are very sparse at the same time, and this pencil fills in the gaps and sticks to the exposed skin perfectly and it’s buildable. I can do a very simple light brow with this pencil alone or I can build it up and get a deeper more bold brow. I like using it with the BH Pencil which I use to define and get clean lines. I use the Nyx Pencil on a nearly daily basis and still haven’t used more than half of it up either.
For those days when I want a full on eyebrow, I reach for the E.L.F. Lock On Liner and Brow Cream in Medium Brown which is a very cool toned brown pomade. It’s right on par with the ABH Dip Brow and is stupid cheap.

The Eyes

Eyeshadow, my favorite thing in the world! Surprisingly, I didn’t purchase a whole lot last year, Not many palettes really spoke to me and I was kind of on a low buy, trying to make smart purchases.
My workhorse go-to palette last year was the Tarte Tarteist Pro Amazonian Clay Palette. This is one of those palettes that has everything I need with all its matte shades ranging from cool, warm and neutral, and even some pops of color. You can read my full review here: Tarte Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette Review
A later love in 2017 was the Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette. This palette was met with mixed reviews but I don’t understand why. Seems like since Subculture everyone just wants to rip palettes apart for attention. It’s trending to hate everything I guess. Well, fuck that. I love this palette so much. You can check out my review here: Review | Swatches | Looks – Kat Von D Saints & Sinners Palette
I purchased the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance in November of 2016 and have consistently used it all year long. It’s a palette I go to for no-brainer looks and classic beauty looks. This is a palette that just makes me feel pretty. I also have a full review here: Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Review + Look Book
Another later love of 2017 was the Stila Magnificent Metals in Kitten Karma. These are worth the hype. They are amazing and so easy. I am really fond of the shade Kitten Karma which is a rose golden like of color. So pretty.
Last for eyes is a super affordable product. The WetnWild Color Icon Glitter Singles. It’s a glitter suspended in a gelly. I love them for a hint of glitter or a base for more glitter eyeshadow as they are sticky. They are a fun little eyeshadow hack to me and they are like 99 cents.

Now for my eyeliner picks.
A pencil I wish I had more reasons to use this one because I love it so much but unfortunately it’s limited edition. It’s the Urban Decay Jean Michel Basquiat 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Anatomy. It’s a vibrant deep orange that you didn’t know you needed.
Speaking of colored eyeliners, the Nyx Faux Blacks eyeliners! They are a great alternative to jet black liner or brown. They give definition and a hint of color and they have a red. I can’t rave enough about these.
Same goes for the Faux Whites in Linen. I love this one for the water line.
The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper was my go-to liquid liner. It’s long wearing and super easy to use. I haven’t found one I like more yet.
And for cream liners, I loved the ELF Cream Eyeliner in Black. It’s super long wear and easy to use… and super affordable.

And last for eyes is my mascara loves of 2017.
First up is the Wet N Wild Lash Renegade. I bought this one just cause I loved the component but it turns out to be a great mascara. Review is coming soon.
Next up is the Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara, this is a good everyday mascara very similar to the Wet N Wild one. I used the hell out of it last year.
I also really enjoyed the Benefit Roller Lash for every day. It’s a good go-to mascara. A review is also coming.
For some more oomph, I really like the Maybelline Volum’ Express The Colossal Big Shot Mascara. This is one I would recommend to anyone.
And of course L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise. Do I need to say more? Review here: L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Review – Best Drugstore Mascara?!

The Lips

So, I have a ton of lip picks for 2017. Let’s start with the Maybelline Color Sensational Loaded Bolds, particularly the shades Mauve it, Raging Rasin, Coffee Addiction and Gone Griege. You can check out my full review here: Maybelline Loaded Bold Lipstick Review and Swatches.
Also from Maybelline is the Color Sensations Matte Metallics in the shade Molten Bronze. It is such a unique shade. I would say it is a burgundy with a bronze and green shift. It’s stunning and I have never seen a lipstick like it. Here a pic of me wearing it.
Next is the Nyx Liquid Suedes. All of them. Review here: Nyx Liquid Suede Review and Swatches
For a glossier finish, I loved the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified in the shades Flambe and Demi Glace. Review here: Review + Demo | Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick

Next group of lippies. Ciate Moisturizing Matte Liquid Lipstick in Bitter Sweet. It’s a cool toned nude, and the formula is amazing. Another liquid lippy I loved was the Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Birthday Suit. Fantastic formula and perfect nude for fair skin.
Surprisingly I found a gloss I liked this year. The Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in Dolly and White Russian. Not sticky and make my lips look so full and juicy. Love them.
More nudes, this was my year for either vampy or nude. Bite Beauty really came through for me too. I feel in love with the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Honeycomb.
From Urban Decay I picked up a cult classic for the 90’s gal, the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Comfort Matte in 1993. Most wearable and flattering brown toned lippy.

Last group. The Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Lip in Crimson Chrome. Stunning rich metallic red. So good.
Another one from Bite. The Bite Beauty Multistick in Brioche. Love. I am in love with Bite Beauty.
Quickly I want to add the Nyx Suede Matte Lip Liners. One of the best lip liners I have ever used. I bought tons of these.
And lastly some super affordable lipsticks from Wet n Wild. First the Wet N Wild MegaLast Lip Color in Mochalicous. A dupe for Urban Decay’s 1993 for like 2 bucks and the formula is up there with high end. Same goes for the 99 cent Wet N Wild Silk Finish Lipstick in Mink Brown which is more of a brick reddish brown. I love it. so good.
