Hello beauties, this evening I have a new makeup tutorial to share using the Huda Beauty Mauve Obessesions Palette. This little palette just screams romantic berry tones. I wanted to do something soft yet dramatic and vampy.Ā You know, my usual style with the addition of a glossy lip. So if you wanna see how I created this easy smoky eye look just keep reading below.
You could get this look with a number of palettes on the market right now, from the Urban Decay Back Talk palette, Blood Sugar Palette from Jeffree Star, Lime Crime Venus XL to the ABH Modern Renaissance. All you need is some berry tones and a light shimmer shade. I am using the Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions because it’s perfection. If you like berry eyeshadows with a cooler undertone, this one is for you.

I mean, how pretty is she. The shades look warmer in the pan than they are on the eye,Ā at least on my skin tone.Ā For this look, I used maybe 4 shades from the palette.

The Eyes
I started out with my brows already done and my eyes primed with some concealer.

I set the eyes using this matte bone shade from brow to lid in a light layer.
Moving on the transitionĀ shade, I used this taupe shade.

The taupe went into the crease and blended up and out into the socket line and toward the brow softly. Making sure this shade blended seamlessly into the bone shade at the brow bone. If the transition shade goes to high you can always blend it back with a little bit of a bone shade around the edges. This really creates a smooth gradient. Because I have hooded lids I blend my transition shade pretty high to reduce the heaviness of the browbone.
Next to add depth I took this cool toned deep rosy plum shade which is matte into the outer portion of the lid and crease.

I applied the eyeshadow to the outer corner and softly blended the shade over onto the lid with a small blending brush. I made sure to keep the pigmentation concentrated on the outer corner. This gives the eye a lifted and elongated effect.
I carefully built up the pigmentationĀ and the depth by going back and forth between the deep berry shade and the taupe making sure everything was blended and smooth.
Moving along to the inner part of the lid, I wanted to add some shimmer so I took the palest shimmer shade in the palette which is a very soft pinky cream tone.

I applied the light shimmer to the inner corner and blended over onto the lid slightly.
I decided to add a touch more shimmer to the center of the lid to marry the deep berry and the pale shimmer shade together. I went with the second lightest shimmer which is a warmer pink tone.Ā It reminds me of Urban Decay Fire Ball.

I patted this warmer pink shimmer on the center between the deep berry and pale shimmer with a finger.
For liner, I kept it minimal with Colourpop’sĀ Best O Creme Gel Liner.

I kept the liner just at the roots of the lashes. You could use black for this or a deep brown but I wanted to keep the colors cohesive and monochromatic.
On to the lower lash line, I took that same taupe and blended all the way across the lower lash line.
Then mimicking what I did on the top, I added a bit of the berry to the outer corner and blended it over into the taupe and applied the palest shimmer to the inner corner. I didn’t add the warm pink shimmer to the lower lash line. Of course, making sure the outer corners join up and everything is blended.
The Finished Eye
I finished the eye off with a few coats of mascara.
The Lips
The lips are where things get really dramatic. You could pair this eye with a softer mauve nude shade or a vibrant berry of course but I opted to go vampy AF. I went in with the Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Lip Paint in Acid Wash. I hate the formula of these quick dry lip paints but the color was spot on. I have a full review of these here:Ā Review | Swatches ā Tarte Tarteist Creamy Lip Paint + Quick Dry Lip Paint

To make the formula tolerable and because I thought it would be really pretty I went in with NYX Butter Gloss in Devil’s Food Cake. I forgot how much I love this gloss.
I really liked the way this lip turned out and the NYX Butter Glosses are a classic.Ā
The Finished Look
And here is the finished look. A full list of products used plus links to reviews and where to purchase will be listed below.

And yes, this look was inspired by Type O Negative’s Love You to Death. The ultimate love song. Don’t even try to @ me. LOL.
