Happy Thursday, A day late… I know but whatever. Today, I have a quick review and demo of the Wet N Wild Ultimate Brow Retractable Brow Pencil.  I am always on the hunt for affordable and awesome brow products. The other day in Wal-Mart I came across this new-ish brow pencil from Wet N Wild. Let’s see if she’s up to par.

This retractable pencil retails for $3.99! I saw that price and had to give it a try. I bought the shade ash brown.

Wet N Wild claims “Insta-worthy! Fill in and define your brows with our unique triangular pencil tip. It creates strokes small enough to look like your finest hairs and sharpens the edges of those brows with rub-resistant pigments. Brush and blend it all out with the pencil’s built-in spoolie. When you’re done, the tip retracts for quick-and-easy storage in your makeup bag.”

I can tell you right now that you cannot get precise hair-like strokes. The tip is too big for that but you can get fairly clean edges. wet n wild brow (2)

The texture of the pencil is a little waxier than I would prefer. I like a more powdery and pigmented pencil. However, if you have fuller brows than me, this pencil will work great for you.  I kind of have to build my brows because they are very fine and sparse and while the pencil works for me, I think it would work better for fuller brows.

The Demo

Here are my unfilled natural brows. You can see how sparse they are and half my brows are pale blonde. I always do my brows first thing after running some eyeshadow primer on my lid and into my brow so they last better. I do my brows first because they are my guide for eyeshadow and if I go HAM on them it’s easily fixed.

1

I usually start by sketching out the shape of my brows. You can see how the pencil is kind of skippy on my skin but I can get a pretty good outline with the pencil.

2

This is where I am not a fan, You can see how waxy the pencil really is when I go to fill in my brows. I don’t love the way it sits on my skin.

3

However, it does improve after brushing them through with the attached spoolie.  They look much smoother and softer.

4

And after doing some clean up with concealer as I usually do, they look even better and natural in my opinion.

5

Once the rest of my makeup is done and I set them with brow gel they look pretty great.

The Verdict

While the pencil is waxier than I like, the color is perfect and the pigmentation is great. It’s a very easy brow product to use and great for bold or soft everyday brows. I say it’s a good budget-friendly option. I have used better, but I have used WAY worse. LOL. This is my everyday pencil at the moment when I need a quick fill to get out the door. I never leave the house without brows because… well, you saw them. I have a strong brow bone and a five head. I need the brows.

What are your brow faves? I think I will be doing a post of my brow holy grails soon and an updated brow routine. I do have a whole brow series I did a couple years ago if you wanna check them out here:

You can check out the Wet N Wild Ultimate Brow Retractable Brow Pencil here at WetNWildBeauty.com for only $3.99. Not an affiliate link btw. This was the best price I found. Also, watch for sales at the drugstore.

A quick note on affiliate links, I am an Amazon Affiliate but if I find a product cheaper on another site I will always link to it rather than my link.  A deal is a deal. This same pencil retailed for $7.99 on Amazon. Nope.

  1. I love this brow pencil! I agree with everything you said. It is really waxy but once you brush your brows it looks really good. It really is an awesome everyday brow product, especially for the price. I use the same shade and I think it’s the best match I’ve ever found for my brows
