So, I was really inspired by a couple of images I came across on Pinterest last week. I loved the colors and thought they would make a really cool eyeshadow look used together. I was going for something pretty/ugly, dystopian and futuristic.
And again I was feeling a Gunship song. I was really trying to capture the aura of the pictures in an eyeshadow look.
For this look I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette paired with Nyx Duo-Chromatic Illuminating Powder in Lavender Steel. On lips, I went with a full-on greige. If you want to see how I got this look, just keep reading below.

As I mentioned the star of the show is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette because the colors and vibe of the palette are perfect for what I was going for. ‘
I started out with my brows done using Kat Von D Super Brow Pomade and my lids primed with Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer and set with the KVD Lock-It Powder making sure there were no spots left sticky from the concealer. That is the key to using the Subculture. No tacky base.
I started in the crease and transition area. Having hooded eyes means a lot of transition shading to give the illusions of depth. I have rather small but deep set hooded eyes that like to look very heavy-lidded and crease easy. Miss the days of having a mono lid when I was younger. Yay for aging. LOL.

So I took Roxy on a large fluffy brush all throughout the crease and transition area as a start. I will come back and do more crease work in a bit. Just getting my look kind of mapped out. Roxy to me, brought in the shades of the sunset sky in the pictures.
I knew on the lid I wanted a concrete grey and Mercury is the perfect shade to tie in the grey of the buildings and dreary feel of the pictures.

So I packed Mercury all over the mobile lid with a flat brush and into the crease to meet up with Roxy.
Back to the crease and transition. I went back in with Roxy to intensify the color next to Mercury.
To blend Roxy out around the edges I went in with Edge.

I used Edge as a transition for my transition shade to soften it and blend it into the brow bone.
The look was really missing some depth and shape and I wanted to add in some purple tones like in the pictures so I went in with Rowdy which is a blackened deep deep purple. In this look, it reads more off black.

Rowdy went in the outer portion of the lid and blended over into Mercury and into the crease. I pulled the shadow up into a graphic cat eye shape to elongate the eye. I also used Rowdy as liner across the upper lash line.
I used a q-tip with a touch of face primer to clean up the fallout and sharpen the edges to give the look some structure while still being grungey.
Next to get that purple glow I went in with Nyx Illuminating Powder in Lavender Steel to mimic the glow of the light in the pictures.

On a pencil brush I applied Lavender Steel to the inner corner.
On the lower lash line, I went back in with Mercury and blended it along the lower lash line then deepened up the outer portion with Rowdy.
And again placed Lavender Steel from Nyx on the inner portion.
The Finished Eye
Then added some mascara and done! I didn’t want to use liner with this look but keep it smoky and smoggy.
For the lips, I went with Nyx Liquid Suede in Brooklyn Thorn which is a deepened greige which ties in perfectly.
The Finished Look
I kept with the theme of using Lavender Steel and used it as my highlight and used Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Paarty as my blush.
I would kill to be with you
We could make it thunder

And that’s the look. I am feeling kind of dystopian on the inside right now so this looks fits my mood. LOL. Being an adult is frustrating as hell some days. Anyway, I hope ya’ll liked this look. I know the colors are a bit odd but I like weirder shades of eyeshadow and I wanted to pull in some cooler tones. I have plans for a look probably coming up next week which will be cool-toned and a two-parter. Have a good Weekend and I will see ya Monday!

The way the purple is showing up as black is really interesting. Does it swatch like that, or is it just because of the colors you’ve used it with?

Its the “magic” of subculture lol. It swatches more off black then purple too but mixed with the gray it really washed it out.

In LOVE with this look! I’m a huge fan of greige and subculture. I’ve done similar looks myself, and found this while inspo searching. Amazingly – I have all the products you used (except a different nyx duochrome lavender highlight which is basically exactly the same as lavender steel and the reason I didn’t buy that one lol) so I think I might do a recreation! My blog is on IG, I will search your IG to tag you in my look & link to your blog as inspo. Perfect look!!
