Hello beauties, today I have a foundation review, which is one of my favorite items to try and review. I am always on the search for that perfect finish and to celebrate Covergirl going cruelty-free I wanted to check out some of the products so I picked up the much spoken about Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation.

The Shade Range

The shade range is highly neglected with only 14 shades to choose from which neither run very deep or very fair. I have the shade Ivory, the lightest in the range and it’s a shade too deep really. I make it work and because I do enjoy the formula so much I am willing too.  From my experience the foundation does oxidize a bit as well so that’s more trouble for us porcelain ladies and gentlemen.

I balance the shade with light concealer and powder, sometimes using a white mixing medium depending on my mood. If I wearing something where my chest doesn’t show, I just blend down my neck and go about my day.

The Formula + Coverage

The formula is hands down stunning. One of the most beautiful, youthful glowy finishes I have found on the market. It looks dewy and glowy in the best ways possible. Highly impressed.

Not only is just beautiful, but the formula contains some skincare benefits as well including SPF 20 and Vitamins E, B3, B5. It’s also hydrating.

The coverage is buildable, yet lightweight. It would say it’s buildable to a good medium coverage.

The foundation would be stunning on mature and young skin alike. It doesn’t emphasize any texture at all for me. I think if you are oily you might not be a fan but for us combo to dry skin types it’s a dream come true.

The Demo + Performance

Here is my very angry raw chapped skin. I had just begun a retinol regime which can be trying on the skin alone but on top of that, we had a very cold front come in so my skin was going through it. Covered in red patches and dry. What better time to put a foundation to the test right? Maybe so, maybe not. I figured yes, with the Vitalist Healthy Elixir as it is hydrating and “healthy”

So how well did it perform?  I would say quite well, Below before concealer or anything else. Just the foundation.

All the patches are covered, my skin doesn’t look dry or as irritated as it actually was at all. I look a bit more tan than my normal undead self but I’m not complaining.

Once the rest of my makeup was completed I feel like it balanced out nicely and looks fantastic. These pictures are unedited aside from cropping and resizing to fit my format.

I call that a bloody good makeup day.

I was also impressed with the wear time. The foundation has worn for hours and still looks perfect. I do bake and set my face mind, but it is gracefully wearing foundation. Even when it does break down around the nose or mouth from touching or a meal, it’s forgiving. I do find that I get dewier as the day progresses but not oily, just glowy which is the point of the foundation.

The Verdict

The shade range is a shame, but the performance, finish, and the formula is all on point. If you can find your shade I would highly recommend it. That is if you are looking for a radiant foundation. If you are a matte fan, don’t bother.

You can purchase the Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation on Amazon here:https://amzn.to/2zyTlFw for $5.69. So a fantastic price point as well. That is an affiliate link by the way. You can also pick it up at your local drugstore, Ulta and superstore.

I have a big week planned on here coming up next week. I have a full collection to review for you guys along with tutorials using the products and a ton of looks so keep an eye out.
