Makeup of the Day | Taking a mental health break and Marie Kondo’ing my life.

Hey guys. How ya been? I took a little break last week from social media and blogging. It was needed. The screenshot from my IG Story is a brief explanation.

I don’t really want to get into it too much. I just needed to take some time for myself to get my head right. I have been kind of self-destructive over the last few months. Eating like shit, drinking, and escaping into video games instead of doing what I need to do, like take care of my home and myself. Anyway, I had kind of low the other weekend and it was like a smack in the face. I took the week to wallow in self-pity then climb out of my hole and get my head right again.

Anyway, I am much better now. My house is in order for the most part which brings me to my next topic. Marie Kondo. My husband and I used her method to completely clean out our bedroom and bathrooms. Next is the kitchen which will be a team effort as well.

6 plus bags for donation, I lost count on the trash bags of stuff not even worth donating. It took us working together about 6 hours as well but it was nice time spent together even though it was doing something burdensome, it was nice. We listened to music, sorted and organized everything and played with Pumpkin who loves playing in the laundry.

I had really let the bedroom go to hell, clothes were piled up for months and it was just a mess. I am so happy to have it looking nice and tidy again.

Speaking of Pumpkin and her love of cuddling in the laundry.

I think this cleaning and decluttering is a physical representation of what I am doing mentally. Cleaning and decluttering my brain.

The Makeup

This was a quick look I did playing around with the Kat Von D Lolita Palette and Pat Mcgrath Matte Liptrance in 1995 on the lips.

I picked up a new palette to play with, see what the deal is with Morphe. I haven’t ever been interested in anything that did until I saw the Boss Mood palette and I kept thinking about it. It’s only $24 so I decided to try it out. So far, I am enjoying it.

And I finally got a new handbag/backpack from Target.

I am loving this backpack so much. I looked at it for like 2 months at Target and I kept thinking about it so when we went in to get Starbucks I got it and it was on sale.

You can’t change purses without a “what’s in my bag?”

That’s all for today, I have to get dressed. Going to the dentist this morning for a consult and god knows what else. Wish me luck! I need it for this one. I’ll see ya’ll tomorrow for a new review.

  1. As always, I love your makeup!
Taking a mental-health break is super important, and I can guarantee that you always return fresh and energized. I’m glad you took some time off for yourself, and I hope you’re doing much better.
Oh, and I also love the little “what’s in my bag” mini-post you slipped in there, haha!

      1. Haha, I do too! I also tend to take away some great ideas and products to keep in times of emergency- for example, I never thought to carry around a lighter, put it actually helps!

      2. Yeah dude, I hang out in bars a lot and someone always needs a light and ya never know when you’ll need one. The band aids I carry are for blisters. Those are a life saver. I was missing my makeup bag and change purse. They ended up in my office. I was wondering why i had so little. Lol.

      3. Haha yes! This one time my friend was out late at night and her car stopped working and her phone died. Her only source of light? A LIGHTER. The day I heard her story, I chucked one in my purse. Thankfully though, I’ve lit friends cigarettes and birthday candles with it till now lol.
