Hello Guys and Ghouls. Today, I have a quick review and swatches of the Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour. I recently picked up three shades from my local Wal-Greens on sale for super cheap. I mean under a dollar cheap. I believe I picked these up for around 80 cents. I know, crazy right? They still have these shades available online and I will link them in the post on where you can pick them up if you are interested.
Let’s jump in.
High intensity color with a velvety matte finish from the very first stroke!
- Bold color with just one stroke
- Impressive staying power – kiss-proof, touch-proof, water-proof wear
- Velvety matte finish
So do they live up to the claims? Yes, for the most part they do. The deep shades do take a bit of layering and the deepest is quite patchy. However, the lighter shades glide on just fine and look great.
I don’t find the formula overly drying. In face it is very similar to the ones from Covergirl I review here, even the smell is the same. Like a burnt candle. They are very long wearing and are indeed kiss proof, touch proof and water-proof. They will fade after a meal though.
The finish is also true to the claim, being quite velvety and pleasant all day.
Starting with the lightest shade, a warm peachy nude called Stripped. All the names are a bit cheeky. I found this shade to wear like an absolute dream and apply evenly. Best of the bunch.

Next up is Plunge. An ashy brown tone. This one takes a bit more care in application but applies pretty well with minimal patchiness. I adore this shade.

Lastly is Devotion. a blackened purple berry. My least favorite of the bunch as it is very patchy in application and takes a tone of layering a which point it has become uncomfortable and flakey. This one is a pass.

Stick to the midtones and light shades and you are in business. The wear time and finish is great. These retail from about $5 – $9 depending where you shop.
